Report: Jets to ink George Fant to 3-year, $30M deal
The New York Jets and offensive tackle George Fant have reached an agreement on a three-year, $30 million contract, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Fant's deal with the Jets includes $13.7 million in guaranteed money, Schefter reports.
The offensive line was a major concern for New York entering this offseason. The club endured season-long issues with its blocking group in 2019, allowing 52 sacks while the offense posted a league-worst 3.3 yards per rushing attempt.
Fant, 28, started seven of the 16 games he played for the Seattle Seahawks last year, allowing three sacks and committing one penalty. He's played his entire NFL career with the Seahawks, who signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2016. The blocker missed the entire 2017 campaign due to a torn ACL and has played in 46 games overall (24 starts).
The Jets were interested in Jack Conklin, but the offensive tackle is set to ink a deal with the Cleveland Browns. Halapoulivaati Vaitai, meanwhile, reportedly agreed to a five-year, $50-million deal with the Detroit Lions on Monday.
