Report: Burrow impressed Bengals in combine interview
As owners of the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals are less than two months away from one of the most important decisions in franchise history.
But quarterback Joe Burrow, the favorite to be the top selection in this year's draft, apparently helped make the Bengals' choice much easier with a strong interview at the NFL Scouting Combine.
"He was impressive," a Bengals staff member told Jeremy Rauch of FOX19.
"Really good communicator," the source added. "Had a full grasp of all the details of their offense, which was expected but good to hear."
Burrow spoke with Bengals president Mike Brown, head coach Zac Taylor, director of player personnel Duke Tobin, and offensive coordinator Brian Callahan, according to team writer Geoff Hobson.
A club official not included in that group also told Hobson it was the best interview he'd ever attended.
Another source within the organization told Tyler Dragon of The Enquirer that the meeting with the former LSU star went well, adding Burrow is a "smart guy" who "will be ready" for the NFL.
Burrow has been the presumptive first overall pick ever since he won the Heisman Trophy and led the Tigers to a national title in a historic breakout senior season.
Speaking to reporters at the combine Tuesday, the 23-year-old shot down speculation that he doesn't want to land with the Bengals.
