Barkley after Giants' 9th straight defeat: 'We find ways to lose games'
The New York Giants squandered a 14-point halftime lead Monday in their overtime defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles, dropping the club to 2-11 this season.
Running back Saquon Barkley believes the loss, New York's ninth consecutive defeat, was indicative of who the Giants are.
"We're a team that finds a way to lose a lot of games," Barkley said, according to Darryl Slater of NJ.com. "That's what we are as of right now, yes. That's our team. We're just an inconsistent football team. We find ways to lose games."
On Monday, the Giants didn't turn the ball over in a contest for the first time this season but allowed a season-high 27 first downs while converting just 11.
New York holds a turnover differential of minus-13, the second-worst mark in the NFL, and the team has failed to top 18 points in four of its past five tilts.
However, Barkley still believes the Giants can reverse course "very soon."
"We're one of the best organizations in the world," he said. "The way that we operate, we have a winning culture inside. We're just not doing it on Sundays. It makes no sense to me - at all actually.
"But I believe that it's going to turn around, and when it does, it's going to be an amazing story. For that to happen, we've got to find a way to win a game."
Barkley took the NFL by storm as a rookie in 2018, leading the league with 2,028 scrimmage yards, in addition to 15 touchdowns. But his numbers have declined this year, as he's amassed 902 total yards and three scores through 10 games.
The Giants will try to snap their losing streak Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
