The NFL told team officials Tuesday that it's projecting its salary cap for 2020 to be between $196.8 million and $201.2 million, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

That means the league's salary cap - currently set at $188.2 million - could see an increase of over $10 million for the seventh consecutive season. The final cap number is set in late February or early March.

Total projected player costs, including benefits, will surpass $7.7 billion in 2020, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The league's current labor deal is set to expire following the 2020 season.
