Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn said Monday he expects quarterback Matt Ryan to return after the team's bye this week, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

In Week 8, Ryan's streak of 154 consecutive starts ended after an ankle injury.

Quinn added that Ryan likely would've been ready to go this week if Atlanta had a game.

The Falcons fell to 1-7 after a 27-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Backup Matt Schaub threw for 460 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the NFC South team's sixth straight defeat.

Despite Atlanta's struggles this season, Ryan has been among the most productive quarterbacks in the league. Entering Week 8, the 34-year-old was second in the league in passing yards (2,170), third in completion percentage (70.9%), and tied for the most passing touchdowns (15).
