Report: Ramsey told Rams he wouldn't hold out before trade

Before the club acquired him from the Jacksonville Jaguars, Jalen Ramsey told the Los Angeles Rams he won't hold out in 2020, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Ramsey isn't under contract beyond next season and has already made it clear he expects to become the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL with his next contract. Ramsey reportedly didn't offer Los Angeles the same assurances if the team slaps the franchise tag on him in 2021.

The Rams sent two first-round picks along with a fourth-rounder in 2021 to the Jaguars in exchange for the Pro Bowl defender on Tuesday. Los Angeles spoke to Ramsey's agent about the feasibility of an eventual extension before landing him, but the two sides didn't get too deep into negotiations.

If they're unable to work out a deal, it's not totally out of the question the Rams could flip Ramsey at some point and recoup some of the capital they gave up to get him.

Ramsey made two Pro Bowls in three seasons with the Jaguars. He played in three games this year before sitting the next three while awaiting a trade and healing a back injury.
