The NFL and NFLPA are reportedly reviewing concussion protocols after New York Giants receiver Sterling Shepard played with a head injury in the first week of the season, sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Despite struggling to get up from a collision with a Dallas Cowboys defender, Shepard finished the game without missing a play. He waved off the Giants' medical staff following the knockdown, while NFL concussion spotters - located on both sidelines and in the press box - did not force him to exit for evaluation.

This will be the fourth protocol review since 2017, following plays involving Russell Wilson, Tom Savage, and Cam Newton.

Shepard has already been ruled out for Week 2 because of the injury.
