The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are placing pass-rusher Jason Pierre-Paul on the reserve/non-football injury list, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Pierre-Paul is working his way back from a broken neck suffered in a May car accident. He'll be unable to play for at least the first six weeks of the regular season while on the NFI.
Tampa Bay's sack leader from a year ago was cleared to resume rehabilitation activities on Tuesday. An original diagnosis of the injury stated he would be sidelined until at least November.
Pierre-Paul was also placed on the reserve/NFI list to begin camp, but he's yet to participate in a practice.
Carl Nassib, Shaq Barrett, and Noah Spence will lead the Bucs' pass-rush group to begin the 2019 season.
