Giants HC: 'It doesn't matter what Odell or Baker say'
New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur had to defend his organization against plenty of slings and arrows on Tuesday.
The criticisms of the day came from Cleveland: Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield revealed he "cannot believe" New York took Daniel Jones sixth overall in this year's draft, while receiver Odell Beckham Jr. said the Giants traded him to Cleveland "to die."
Shurmur addressed both remarks at his press conference.
"Quite frankly, on our list of issues of the day, it doesn't matter what Odell or Baker say," he said, according to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post.
Shurmur added Mayfield's comments on Jones aren't original commentary.
"He's in a long line of people that criticized that move," he said.
As for Beckham, Schwartz noted Shurmur wished his former receiver well, but otherwise kept his rebuttal brief.
"It was a trade," said the head coach.
