The Oakland Raiders have released receiver Antonio Brown, the team announced Saturday.

Brown's release comes a day after the wideout was fined $215,073 for conduct detrimental to the team, which reportedly voided his $29.125 million in guarantees.

Brown celebrated his release in a video he posted on his YouTube page:

The 31-year-old does not have to clear waivers and is free to sign with any team as an unrestricted free agent, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.

"Now that Antonio is a free agent, we are focused on the future and I will immediately work on signing him to a new team," Brown's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said, according to Schefter. "Antonio is looking forward to a new beginning."

Brown spent six months with Oakland and departs after never playing a game - preseason or otherwise - in a Raider uniform.

He missed most of training camp after doing damage to the soles of his feet in a cryogenic chamber mishap in France, then filed multiple grievances against the NFL after the helmet he's worn throughout his career no longer passed safety measures.

Brown finally reached a sponsorship deal with a company that would design a custom helmet for him, paving the way for the four-time All-Pro to return to the field.

The drama reached its peak this week, though, as Brown posted a letter online that he received from general manager Mike Mayock which detailed a fine he needed to pay, and then got into an argument with and reportedly threatened to punch the GM during practice. After Brown apologized to the team, head coach Jon Gruden said the Raiders planned to play the receiver in their season opener Monday.

However, Brown shared a video Friday night in which a phone conversation with Gruden was included and then asked for his release from the team in an Instagram post on Saturday morning - a request that was granted hours later.

For the Raiders, the short-term partnership cost them only the third-round and fifth-round draft picks they sent to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the March trade.

Despite the tumultuous offseason, NFL executives believe "someone will take the chance on Brown as soon as the risk is low enough," Yahoo's Charles Robinson reports.
