Former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee announced Monday he will join ESPN as a color analyst for Thursday night college football prime-time games.

McAfee considered an NFL comeback, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports, but will instead team up with former Colts teammate Matt Hasselbeck on the broadcasts.

The 32-year-old performs as a stand-up comedian, and recently signed with WWE's NXT TakeOver as a pre-show analyst.

A fan favorite on and off the field, McAfee was a popular name linked with the Monday Night Football job after Jason Witten announced his return to the Dallas Cowboys.
