Michael Roberts is staying in the NFC North, as the Green Bay Packers claimed the former Detroit Lions tight end off the waiver wire Monday.

The New England Patriots initially acquired Roberts via trade on Thursday, but Detroit announced just a day later that the third-year player had reverted back to its roster after reportedly failing a physical. He was waived later that day.

Roberts, a fourth-round selection by the Lions in 2017, caught 13 passes for 146 yards and three touchdowns during his first two seasons. He played in eight games last year before a shoulder injury ended his campaign.

He'll likely compete with veteran Marcedes Lewis and rookie Jace Sternberger for snaps behind Jimmy Graham.
