Former NFC South rival Gerald McCoy is visiting with the Carolina Panthers on Friday and it could take the weekend for the free-agent defensive tackle - who made previous visits with the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens - to make his decision, a source informed ESPN's Adam Schefter.

McCoy spent nine years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, battling with the Panthers twice a season, before the player and team mutually agreed to part ways May 20.

In 15 career games against the Panthers, McCoy had 34 solo tackles, 4.5 sacks, and 10 quarterback hits.

Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti spoke glowingly of the team's meeting with McCoy on Wednesday and said he's "excited" about the potential addition. Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens said Thursday he's also optimistic about Cleveland signing the free agent.
