The Atlanta Falcons aren't close to re-signing defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, sources told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's D. Orlando Ledbetter.

Jarrett will become a free agent once the new league year begins on March 13. However, General manager Thomas Dimitroff is still optimistic about retaining him before Tuesday's franchise-tag deadline.

"We're working diligently on Grady Jarrett," he said. "That is our focus and will continue to be our focus right now. I'm confident that is going to get done. We feel very confident about that."

The 25-year-old recorded 52 tackles, six sacks, and three forced fumbles during the 2018 campaign.

Jarrett will earn $15.2 million in 2019 if he's franchise tagged.
