Mike Mayock wasn't ready to declare Derek Carr the Oakland Raiders' long-term quarterback on Monday after being introduced as the team's new general manager.

"That's part of my study right now," he told reporters, via Anthony Galaviz of The Fresno Bee. "... I'm not going to make a comment on anybody on the roster until I do a complete deep dive."

Mayock joined the Raiders' front office after working 14 years as an NFL Network draft analyst. One of his top priorities will be determining whether Carr, who had the best statistical season of his career in 2018 for the 4-12 Raiders, is good enough to build around.

The 27-year-old posted 4,049 yards through the air with 19 passing touchdowns, 10 interceptions, and 11 fumbles in 16 outings. However, he struggled as a deep passer, which has long been a primary criticism against him.

For what it's worth, Mayock ranked Carr third among quarterback prospects leading up to the 2014 NFL Draft. He placed the Fresno State product behind Johnny Manziel and Blake Bortles, and ahead of Jimmy Garoppolo, Zach Mettenberger, and Teddy Bridgewater.

"I had him as a first-rounder coming out," he said, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
