Pete Carroll received a contract extension for Christmas, as the veteran head coach re-upped Monday with the Seattle Seahawks on a deal that runs through the 2021 campaign.

The pact, which will keep Carroll tied to Seattle through his age-70 season, is worth more than $11 million annually, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

"I love this team and couldn't be more proud to represent the 12s," Carroll said in a statement.

Carroll, who led the Seahawks to a Super Bowl XLVIII championship, guided Seattle back to the playoffs this year on the heels of an offseason roster overhaul.

Carroll owns an 88-54-1 record with one game remaining in his ninth season in Seattle. He's qualified for the postseason seven times in those nine years.

The former USC mastermind is one of three coaches who have won both a Super Bowl and a college football national championship.
