Though Jason Garrett may be firmly on the hot seat, the Dallas Cowboys do not plan to replace their head coach midseason, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Dallas did, however, consider other changes during its Week 8 bye, specifically moving on from offensive coordinator Scott Linehan, per Rapoport. Garrett decided to keep Linehan and instead fired offensive line coach Paul Alexander.
Garrett's status with the Cowboys following the 2018 season remains up in the air, as the team has struggled to a 3-5 record.
If the head coach is let go, both owner Jerry Jones and executive vice president Stephen Jones are believed to have an affinity for Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley, Rapoport added.
Riley has excelled since taking over the Sooners in 2017, accumulating a 21-3 record and owning the nation's No. 2-ranked offense this season.
The Cowboys have scored 19.2 points per game - 26th in the NFL - in 2018 and take on the rival Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football.
