Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett only had positive things to say about his team's former receiver Dez Bryant, who is set to join the New Orleans Saints on a one-year deal.

"Dez was a great player in this organization for a long time," Garrett said, according to Pro Football Talk's Charean Williams. "Really happy for him and that opportunity. I know it’s important to him. He wants to finish his career strong. He’s done such a great job for this organization and been an impact player in this league over the course of his eight years playing. Seems like a real good opportunity for him. I know he’ll help their team.

"... I’m happy he has an opportunity to go play and finish the right way."

The 30-year-old didn't end his tenure with the Cowboys on the best terms. In July, Bryant called out linebacker Sean Lee and owner Jerry Jones in a Twitter tirade.

Dallas released Bryant in April, saving $8 million against the salary cap. He remained unsigned until Wednesday after reportedly turning down offers from the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns.

Over eight seasons with the Cowboys, Bryant recorded 531 catches for 7,459 yards and a franchise-leading 73 receiving touchdowns.
