The Oakland Raiders have released veteran defensive end Bruce Irvin, league sources told Vic Tafur of The Athletic.
Irvin played just nine snaps Thursday night against the San Francisco 49ers. The Raiders reportedly shopped him before the trade deadline in hopes of acquiring a late-round draft pick.
Irvin, who turned 31 years old on Thursday, signed a four-year, $37-million contract with the Raiders in 2016 after spending the first four seasons of his career with the Seattle Seahawks. He notched 18 sacks across 40 games with Oakland, including three in eight contests this year.
