Terrell Owens is standing by his decision to skip his NFL Hall of Fame induction ceremony earlier this year.

"No regrets at all," Owens said, according to The Associated Press' Josh Dubow.

The former receiver said he was upset that it took three years for him to be inducted and felt that voters took his off-field issues into account instead of solely focusing on his play.

"If anybody knows who Terrell Owens is outside the media portrayal of me throughout the course of my career, they know what I did. I stand by what I did. ... When they tried to bring other things outside my body of work and my accomplishments, that was an issue for me. My stats spoke loudly. They spoke for themselves."

The six-time Pro Bowler received his Hall of Fame ring at a halftime ceremony in San Francisco during Thursday night's game between the 49ers and the Oakland Raiders.

"This is awesome," Owens said before the game while wearing his Hall of Fame jacket. "This is an opportunity to give something to the fans. Ever since I left in 2003 and went on and did some great things, but this is where it started, my first eight years of my career."

In his eight seasons in San Francisco, Owens had 557 receptions for 8,052 yards and 77 touchdowns.
