Ryan Tannehill's right shoulder injury remains a mystery following his surprise inactive status in Week 6, but according to Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase, the worst-case scenario is off the table.

Gase attempted to ease concerns about Tannehill's injury on Thursday when asked if the Dolphins are facing a similar situation to that of Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts in 2017.

"We're not looking at that," Gase said, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.

Luck missed the entire 2017 season after setbacks while rehabbing from throwing-shoulder surgery. While Tannehill's short-term status doesn't appear to be good - he's already ruled out for Week 7 and faces an "uphill challenge" to play next Thursday, per ESPN's Cameron Wolfe - Miami doesn't seem concerned with his long-term health.

"He could throw tomorrow if he wanted to," Gase said, according to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald.

The NFL is investigating the Dolphins' reporting of Tannehill's injury. The quarterback was listed on the injury report as questionable with a right shoulder issue for the team's Week 6 meeting with the Chicago Bears. However, he was able to practice in full Wednesday and Thursday before being downgraded to limited on Friday and ultimately ruled out.

Brock Osweiler, who led Miami to a win over the Bears in Tannehill's absence, will get the nod under center for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.
