Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson said Wednesday that the club intends to keep backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor rather than move him ahead of the trade deadline.

"No," Jackson said when asked if there's a possibility that Taylor could be dealt, according to Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 The Fan. "None."

Taylor entered the season as the Browns' starter but was benched after a concussion in Week 3 paved the way for No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield to snatch the job.

The Browns acquired Taylor in an offseason trade with the Buffalo Bills and initially planned to start him for a year before handing the reigns to Mayfield. Taylor's contract expires at the end of the campaign.

"It is frustrating, but it is a part of the game at the same time," Taylor said Wednesday of his altered role, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.

"Eight years in, you understand some things happen that you can't control. Not wanting to complain, just have to continue to keep being myself day in and day out, continue to be a leader and like I said, help the team in any way. This is a different role, but I am here to offer as much knowledge, as well as just trying to share my viewpoint of things, that can help the defense or offense."

The NFL trade deadline is Oct. 30.
