Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen released a statement on Thursday addressing his recent absence from the team.

Griffen was ruled out of the Vikings' Week 3 game against the Buffalo Bills due to a knee injury. He was then away from the team ahead of Thursday night's contest against the Los Angeles Rams while reportedly undergoing a mental health evaluation.

The nine-year veteran was involved in an incident last Saturday in which he made several comments about people trying to kill him, according to a police report obtained by ESPN's Courtney Cronin.
