The Atlanta Falcons announced Tuesday that they've placed Pro Bowl linebacker Deion Jones on injured reserve due to a foot injury.
Head coach Dan Quinn said the team expects that Jones will be able to return "at some point this season." He added that Jones reported soreness in his foot after Thursday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and tests revealed an injury that required surgery.
By NFL rules, Jones will have to miss a minimum of eight weeks by going on IR.
Jones' absence is a massive blow to Atlanta's defense, which saw safety Keanu Neal go down for the season due to a knee injury in the season opener.
