Titans-Dolphins sets NFL record for longest game after 4 hours of delays

A pair of lengthy weather delays saw the Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins open their respective seasons on Sunday by shattering the NFL record for the longest game.

Suspended for nearly two hours in the first half, and then another two-plus hours in the third quarter, the contest lasted for a staggering seven hours and eight minutes.

The previous record of five hours and 16 minutes, set by a Ravens-Bears game in 2013, was passed before the Titans and Dolphins returned to the field after the second delay of the day.

Fans who stuck around through the multiple stoppages were treated to a fourth quarter with four touchdowns - two on returns - and 34 points scored.

The Dolphins won the back-and-forth affair 27-20.
