The NFL is not expected to implement a new policy for the national anthem this season, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The league initially passed a policy in May, but it was put on hold amid controversy and discussions with the players' association.
Schefter added that while talks will continue, "too many people have stances too strong to figure out a compromise."
Players have protested racial injustice, police brutality, and other issues during the anthem for the past two seasons, led by the likes of Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid.
