The Atlanta Falcons announced they have signed offensive tackle Jake Matthews to a five-year contract extension.

The deal is worth $75 million, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

By reportedly making $15 million per year under the new contract, the former first-round pick becomes the league's third-highest-paid offensive tackle behind Taylor Lewan, who also signed an extension on Friday, and New York Giants left tackle Nate Solder.

The Falcons selected Matthews at No. 6 overall in the 2014 draft out of Texas A&M. After struggling as a rookie, he's developed into an elite pass-protector for quarterback Matt Ryan.
