Report: Khalil Mack will not report to Raiders camp Thursday

Kirby Lee / USA TODAY Sports

It doesn't appear the Oakland Raiders will have Khalil Mack present when training camp begins on Thursday, as sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter the star defensive end won't be in attendance.

Mack has one year left on his current contract. He'll make close to $14 million this season while playing under the fifth-year option exercised by the club.

The former University of Buffalo standout posted 10.5 sacks and 78 tackles in 2018, making the Pro Bowl for the third straight year. The 2016 AP Defensive Player of the Year is undoubtedly one of the best pass-rushers in the NFL, and any prolonged absence would be a massive hit to Jon Gruden's defense in his first year back as Raiders head coach.

If Mack decides to remain out for an extended period, promising rookie Arden Key could see increased action at defensive end.
