The Washington Redskins selected cornerback Adonis Alexander out of Virginia Tech in the sixth round of the NFL's supplemental draft Wednesday.

A standout with the Hokies, Alexander entered the supplemental draft after being ruled academically ineligible to play out his senior campaign.

He boasts above-average size for a cornerback, though his lack of speed and upper-body strength is a concern in the NFL.

By using a supplemental pick on Alexander in Round 6, the Redskins will be forced to surrender their sixth-round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Alexander was the second player taken in the supplemental draft Wednesday, following Western Michigan cornerback Sam Beal, who went to the NFC East rival New York Giants in Round 3.
