He hasn't submitted his retirement papers yet, but former Kansas City Chiefs star pass-rusher Tamba Hali acknowledged Wednesday he's probably played his final NFL game.
"I just need to continue to work out and do my music," Hali, who released a hip-hop single last year, said on SiriusXM NFL Radio. "I don't want to focus too much on football. I don't see myself getting back into football."
Hali spent all 12 seasons of his career with the Chiefs, earning five Pro Bowl selections as one of the game's elite pass-rushers. He played in only five contests last year because of injuries and declining effectiveness, and said his body no longer recovers from physical strain the way it once did.
"I see myself being involved with the Chiefs somehow, maybe as a specialist being able to teach the guys," the 34-year-old added. "I don't want to lie to myself, I think the time has come."
Hali enjoyed his most productive campaign in 2010, finishing second in the league with 14.5 sacks. For his career, Hali recorded 591 tackles and 89.5 sacks.
