Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson and defensive end J.J. Watt are both expected to avoid the physically unable to perform list for the start of training camp, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Watson is rehabbing from a torn ACL, while Watt missed the majority of the 2017 campaign with a tibial plateau fracture in his left leg.

The quarterback burst onto the NFL scene as a rookie, throwing 19 touchdowns in seven appearances before going down with the season-ending knee injury.

With Watt and fellow pass-rusher Whitney Mercilus already on the shelf, the injury-plagued Texans struggled to a 4-12 record in 2017, but are widely expected to contend for the AFC South title if their stars can stay healthy.
