NFL free agents Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid have been working out together at Cal State East Bay, according to Cam Inman of The Mercury News.

"We’re not doing interviews," Kaepernick told Inman. "We’re just here getting in a workout."

The former San Francisco 49ers teammates have been working with an unidentified trainer while trying to stay in shape in wait of an NFL opportunity.

Kaepernick has been out of the league since opting out of his contract with the 49ers at the end of the 2016 campaign. Reid has yet to be picked up this offseason after his previous contract with the team ran out at the end of the 2017 league year.

The two players had been leaders in the national anthem protests in support of social justice issues.

Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath recently gave his support to both players, saying "they are good enough players to be out there and having a job."
