Kirk Cousins reportedly doesn't plan to rush his potentially life-changing free-agent decision.
The Washington Redskins quarterback, who's set to become a free agent March 14 at 4 p.m. ET, doesn't plan to agree to terms during the two-day negotiating period (March 12-14), a source told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. Cousins plans to "take one or more visits" with teams when free agency officially opens.
Cousins is widely regarded as the top signal-caller expected to be available in free agency. While other teams aren't allowed to comment on their targets under the NFL's tampering rules, Cleveland Browns offensive tackle Joe Thomas and Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller have both made personal pitches.

The Redskins have floated the idea of applying the franchise tag to Cousins in order to trade him, but they're viewed as unlikely to do so. They reportedly acquired and extended quarterback Alex Smith near the end of January in a move that will likely send Cousins to the market.

Cousins is coming off his sixth season with the Redskins and will hit free agency for the first time. He made the Pro Bowl in 2016 and has career totals of 16,206 passing yards, 123 rushing yards, and 112 total touchdowns in 62 games (57 starts).
