New England Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler is expected to play in Super Bowl LII after being hospitalized with flu-like symptoms Sunday, according to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald.

Butler won't participate in Super Bowl Opening Night due to the illness.

The 27-year-old recorded 60 tackles, a sack, three forced fumbles, and two interceptions in 16 games this season.

Butler is best known for his game-sealing interception in Super Bowl XLIX, picking off Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson to preserve a 28-24 victory for the Patriots.
