Patriots sign veteran LB James Harrison to reported 1-year deal
The New England Patriots signed veteran linebacker James Harrison on Monday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed by the Patriots, but Harrison reportedly signed a one-year contract, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports.
Harrison was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Dec. 23.
The 39-year-old is the Steelers' all-time sack leader and was named to five Pro Bowls from 2007-11. He earned Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2008.
Harrison helped the Steelers win two Super Bowls and recorded one of the greatest plays in Super Bowl history, returning an interception 100 yards for a touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII.
During the 2017 season, Harrison played sparingly, recording a sack and three tackles in five games.
The Patriots will likely try to use Harrison's extensive knowledge of the Steelers ahead of the postseason, where the two AFC powerhouses could meet in the conference title game for the second consecutive year.
