New York Jets defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson is accepting responsibility for his actions after being benched Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.
Wilkerson was inactive due to an unspecified disciplinary issue and it's possible he'll also be held out Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.
It appears the 28-year-old is moving on ahead of this weekend's contest.
"It's all about respect, and I let the team down," Wilkerson said to ESPN's Rich Cimini. "I respect what coach did. We're moving forward, getting ready for the next opponent."
Wilkerson hinted that his relationship with head coach Todd Bowles may have frayed but he holds no animosity toward him.
"I still respect coach," Wilkerson said. "I guess you have to ask him how he feels about our relationship, but I have the utmost respect for him."
Bowles appeared noncommital about Wilkerson's status, but the veteran defensive lineman may be reinserted into the lineup.
"He works hard," Bowles said. "He made a mistake. We've moved on. He corrected it and we'll go from there."
