The New York Jets are reportedly interested in a reunion this offseason with Seahawks defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson, whom they traded to Seattle just prior to the start of the season, according to Manish Mehta of the NY Daily News.
And on the other side, Richardson would welcome a return to New York, added Mehta.
Richardson is set to become an unrestricted free agent unless the Seahawks opt to use the franchise tag to retain him. Seattle sent a second-round pick and wide receiver Jermaine Kearse to New York in exchange for the Missouri product.
The Jets are likely interested in bolstering the defensive line because of Muhammad Wilkerson's uncertain future. The defensive lineman was left at home for Week 15 after he was late for a team meeting Friday - the latest in a long line of off-field issues.
Richardson has been solid since his move to the Seahawks, but has failed to stuff the stat sheet, recording 37 total tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble.
