The New York Giants will start backup quarterback Geno Smith in Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders, head coach Ben McAdoo confirmed Tuesday.
McAdoo added that 2017 third-round pick, Davis Webb, will also get a look under center.
"Geno will start this week. Over the last five games, we will take a look at Geno, and we will also give Davis an opportunity," McAdoo said.
The decision ends Eli Manning's streak of 210 consecutive games started. McAdoo gave the 36-year-old the option to start in order to continue the streak, but Manning declined.
"Our No. 1 priority every week is to go win a game, but we owe it to the organization to get an evaluation of everybody on the roster, and that includes the quarterback position," McAdoo said. "I'll say it again, I have the utmost respect for Eli and everything he has done for this organization throughout his career."
