Flacco in concussion protocol after late hit by Dolphins' Alonso

Tommy Gilligan / USA TODAY Sports

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco was taken to the locker room during the second quarter of Thursday night's game against the Miami Dolphins after linebacker Kiko Alonso delivered a late hit while the quarterback was sliding.

Flacco was diagnosed with a concussion and ruled out for the game.

Alonso received a 15-yard penalty for the hit, but was not ejected.

Flacco was replaced by Ryan Mallett, who threw a touchdown on his first drive that targeted Alonso in coverage.

Following the play, a skirmish broke out, during which Alonso and Ravens head coach John Harbaugh engaged in a face-to-face screaming match.
