Twitter reacts to NBC's invasive coverage of Watt's injury

J.J. Watt is deified in Houston and by the NFL community at large, and rightfully so, but coverage of his worrisome knee injury in Sunday's game got downright creepy.

NBC cameras doggedly chronicled just about every stage of Watt's injury treatment. There were the typical shots of the injured player painfully leaving the field, the sobbing Texans fans in the stands watching him go, and the trailing shots following Watt into the locker room. That's all pretty standard.

But then it got weird.

Footage emerged of Watt hobbling on crutches to board an ambulance in the team tunnel, which is certainly unusual when it comes to coverage. That was followed with a helicopter aerial shot of Watt's ambulance as it sped down the highway towards a hospital.

This level of invasive detail is rarely offered in sports, which begged the question: was it all necessary?

The exquisite and intrusive publicizing of Watt's injury became a talking point on Twitter, as fans expressed both amusement and disgust.
