Chicago Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan was suspended two games Saturday for an illegal hit on Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams.

Adams appeared to be wrapped up by a series of Bears defenders, but Trevathan flew in and launched a devastating hit to his helmet. The Packers' receiver briefly laid motionless on the field.

Trevathan then entered a verbal sparring match with several Packers players, including quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Bears linebacker incurred a penalty on the play but wasn't ejected.

Packers head coach Mike McCarthy revealed that Adams was placed in concussion protocol but said he's gone home and is "rambunctious and ready to move forward."

Trevathan will appeal his suspension, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
