Week 1 has come and gone and if you are reading this article it means one of two things:
1) You made it through the opening round of your survivor pool and are looking for a team to select for Week 2.
2) You picked the New England Patriots last Thursday like half the country and had to buy back in for Week 2.
The Patriots' surprising loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on opening night meant a lot of people were already eliminated from their survivor pool before the first Sunday of the season.
Most leagues offer a second buy-in for those that lose early, and here's a couple of teams to look at to get your pool back on track, or for those winners among us, keep rolling through Week 2.
Two teams to pick
Oakland Raiders
The Oakland Raiders looked excellent in their Week 1 win at Tennessee, and their balanced offense should have little trouble with the hapless New York Jets on Sunday. The Buffalo Bills ran all over the Jets last week, and with Marshawn Lynch returning to form, the Raiders attack could do the same. While the Raiders are a strong team, this pick certainly has more to do with the Jets willingly starting a season with Josh McCown as their quarterback. If you're struggling to find a team to pick during any week this year, whoever the Jets are playing is a strong option.
Seattle Seahawks
Through Week 1 it appears the Seattle Seahawks defense will once again be among the league's best. That's good news for Seahawks fans because the offense is an absolute trainwreck. The embattled unit managed just 225 total yards against Green Bay last week, converting just 12 first downs in the process. That performance certainly doesn't make them a sexy pick going forward, but the San Francisco 49ers looked so bad in Week 1 that this is the safest bet on the board. It's tough to see the 49ers scoring much against the stout Seahawks defense, and Russell Wilson is set to rebound at home.
Team to avoid
Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers are 7.5-point favorites over the Bills on Sunday, but they should not be a team that you consider this week for a survivor pick. While the Panthers easily beat the San Francisco 49ers last week, the Bills smothered the Jets offense and kept them well below 100 yards rushing. Cam Newton threw two touchdown passes but also missed a ton of throws against the 49ers and that could hurt him against an opportunistic defense. Bills head coach Sean McDermott was the Panthers' defensive coordinator the last six seasons, and if anybody knows how to slow Newton down, it's him.
Record: 2-0
