The Houston Texans are happy to be home, and home is where they will remain when the regular season kicks off in 10 days.

The Texans' final preseason game was canceled Wednesday so the team could attend to matters in Houston, where Hurricane Harvey has left devastation. However, the area around the team's home stadium has been spared the flooding that's occurred in other parts of the city. As a result, Texans general manager Rick Smith believes their first game of the season - a scheduled home date with the Jacksonville Jaguars - will remain in Houston.

"The game is at NRG (Stadium). It's scheduled to be played at NRG, so it will be played at NRG," Smith said Wednesday.

In the meantime, the Texans will attend to family matters and assist the Houston community with its recovery.

"There's just so much devastation in the city and the region that we want to be a part of that recovery process," Smith said. "We know that we will recover as a community, as a city, as a region, and we just want to give back and become a part of that process."
