The Dallas Police Department suspended its investigation of Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott's alleged assault at a nightclub due to an inability to contact the victim and having no witnesses come forward, according to a statement.

Elliott was accused of punching a DJ in the face and breaking his nose, though witnesses have denied the running back's direct involvement. Neither Elliott or anyone else was listed as a suspect in the initial police report.

Sources told Rebecca Lopez of WFAA TV that police didn't get a warrant for security footage from the nightclub, but that the video did show the incident.

The victim gave police an old address and wrong number, according to Lopez's sources.
