Suspended Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant met Thursday with the NFL's Management Council as he seeks reinstatement from a year-long ban for multiple drug violations, a source told Sporting News' Alex Marvez.

Bryant was told by the league to "assemble a plan detailing safeguards that would help him prevent a relapse," adds Marvez.

The 25-year-old will also have to meet with commissioner Roger Goodell or one of his representatives before being allowed to rejoin the Steelers, as well as be given a favorable recommendation by the league's medical director.

Bryant's reinstatement was reportedly "imminent" as of the end of March, but the NFL said there was no timeline for his return.
