Arians: Cardinals are 'one of the best situations' for a rookie QB
Carson Palmer will return to serve as the Arizona Cardinals' starting quarterback this season, but that doesn't mean the team won't be on the hunt for his successor.
The Cardinals have been identified by some analysts as a team that could use an early draft pick on a quarterback, and head coach Bruce Arians seemed to endorse the idea Wednesday.
"It would be one of the best situations for a young quarterback to walk into ... for as long as it takes," Arians told reporters, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Palmer will turn 38 before the season ends and contemplated retirement after the 2016 campaign, so the suggestion that a young quarterback might have to sit behind him for a long time is a little far-fetched.
The Cardinals own the 13th overall pick in next month's draft. It's not out of the question that they will use that pick on a passer.
It's also not out of the question that that passer will start for them in 2018.
