Travis Kelce is paying the price for letting his emotions get the best of him last weekend.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has been fined $24,309 for throwing his towel at an official in Sunday's win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to multiple reports.
Kelce had initially been flagged for an excessive protest of what he thought should have been a pass interference call in the end zone. A second unsportsmanlike violation for launching his towel automatically resulted in his ejection from the game and the Chiefs offense taking a total of 30 penalty yards.
"I felt like an idiot,'' Kelce said after the game, via Adam Teicher of ESPN. "I can't do that to my teammates. I can't do that to the (fans), to myself. It was a terrible decision.''
This week's matchup with the Carolina Panthers, where Kansas City can take sole possession of first place in the AFC West with a win, will give Kelce the chance to make up for his lapse in judgment.
