Knile Davis' time in Green Bay has ended before it could truly begin.
The Packers have released the fourth-year running back less than two weeks after acquiring him in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
Davis was brought aboard after three-plus season in Kansas City with the hope that he'd provide some much-needed backfield depth in wake of injuries to Eddie Lacy and James Starks.
After seeing just five carries for 5 yards over his two games in a Packers uniform, though, Davis will head for the waiver wire as he awaits another opportunity elsewhere.
Green Bay had initially given up a conditional draft selection to take a chance on Davis, so it's possible that the lack of work before his release will allow the team to recoup the agreed upon compensation.
