Report: NFL owners approached NFLPA about CBA extension
NFL owners have broached the subject of negotiating an extension to the current collective bargaining agreement with the NFLPA in recent months, and discussions are ongoing, sources told Dan Graziano of ESPN.
The impetus for coming back to the table is the league wanting to secure money for an Oakland Raiders stadium in Las Vegas, and potentially a San Diego facility, as it's exhausted all the stadium credits included in the 2011 deal, Graziano reports.
While the players would reportedly listen to overtures from the league, they'd likely ask for concessions, and the commissioner's disciplinary role should be a major point of contention.
With plans for the Raiders' move to Vegas moving forward, it could force the league to give up more power than they'd want to in order to secure business interests.
