The Carolina Panthers have signed offensive tackle Michael Oher to a three-year contract extension, the team announced.

The deal includes $21.6 million in new money, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

The former first-round pick signed a two-year deal with the Panthers in 2015 and went on to have arguably the best season of his career, giving up a career-low four sacks as Cam Newton's blind-side protector.

The Panthers locked up center Ryan Kalil on a two-year extension earlier this offseason, so the reigning NFC champions should have continuity on their offensive line for the foreseeable future.
